Reviews and Ratings
The hotel has a very dated look in need of an update but had everything we needed. The service, while having a general lack of understanding of the English language, worked hard to maintain a reasonable level of service. The location was a bit awkward and uncomfortable, in a half-up-half-down position, although it had wonderful views. The dining experience was passable, with plenty to fill up on.
The hotel offered good value for money with spacious rooms, albeit a bit dated in decor. The service was friendly and helpful, though not well supported at times. The location was ideal for exploring the Highlands, yet occasionally disrupted by noisy entertainment. The dining experience was satisfying despite some chaos, and the facilities were decent overall.
My stay at the hotel was a mix of positives and negatives. The location was fantastic with a beautiful river at the back, but it felt a bit crowded due to tour bus parties. The rooms, though they came with a bottle of deodorizer for overnight stay, were very small, which was a downside. The service was a bit inconsistent, with moments of cheerfulness but also instances where we felt ignored. The dining experience had its highs and lows, with nice and well-cooked dishes but also instances of food shortage. Overall, a stay with its ups and downs.
The hotel had spacious and clean rooms, well-catered for all guest requirements, but was located above an area where staff congregated for breaks. The service was accommodating and friendly, though there was a shortage of staff during my stay. The location was perfect for my trip to Glencoe, with cheerful and helpful staff, beautiful views, and ample parking. The dining experience was good overall with decent dinner options, but some areas needed refurbishment.
I stayed at Ben Doran for 3 nights B&B. The rooms weren't close to each other but were good value for the money we paid. However, I felt the heating around the public rooms was not adequate. The location was lovely and great for our LEJOG trip, being on route, but was badly let down by very poor food. The service was a mix of very helpful staff and some issues with responsiveness and professionalism. The dining experience, while having well-cooked dishes, suffered from tiny portions and not so tasty sausages. The facilities were decent overall.
The hotel had a room that sounded like it was going to collapse at any moment but was surprisingly clean and big. It felt more like a café, not very comfortable, and the food seemed to be mostly coming right out of the freezer at 8 am, just 2 hours before checkout.
